Smoking cigarette is injurious to health. We all know this. Even the carton of the cigarette packet warns the smoker to not to smoke. Those who smoke, avoid that warning and continue their own task. But why do they avoid? Why don’t they understand the fatal fact hiding behind this bad habit? Are they unaware of the fact that smoking can be fatal? Or they simply think that five or six cigarettes a day can’t be that dangerous.
Researchers have proven that even one cigarette a day can be deadly and can increase the rate of the cardiovascular diseases up to 74 percent in case of men and 119 percent for women than those persons who never smoked before. So if you are thinking that one or two cigarettes a day, is your solution to avoid those dangerous health hazards then you are wrong.
Now to understand properly you must know how cigarette smoking can make you very ill. We all know that smokers are more prone to stroke and asthma problems. Ischemic strokes mostly happen to tobacco smokers, where the blood flow is blocked to brain’s different parts. As a result death of brain-cells occurs rapidly due to the lack of required oxygen. Besides stroke other fatal diseases like blood clotting, artery blockage, atherosclerosis, lungs failure, asthma, and even cancer etc. can happen to your body.
It’s said that if you can’t control smoking, then cutting down the number of cigarettes from your daily regime should be the best option for you. Now there is also a process. Regular smokers tend to smoke at least 15 to 20 cigarettes a day. So to cut down the numbers, you must take little steps. On the first day of the journey you should cut one or two cigarettes, then on the third day try to cut one or two more and continue this process until you reach the desired goal. Now to help you control your smoking thirst, you can take nicotine patches or also can eat nicotine-contained chewing gums. But before trying those things must consult with your doctor.
It may occur in your mind that sometimes we have seen people to die because of heart attack or cancer etc. and that person was not even a smoker. Again we have also seen people living a long healthy life even though he is a regular smoker. It may confuse you that then who is the main culprit here? Should we call it a luck-matter then? Yes, you can say that the very person is lucky. But there is lying a hidden secret under the carpet and that is lifestyle choices.
Now understand how a person’s daily lifestyle choices can make him or her live longer than the other person. If a person has sleep depravedness, then he is more prone towards heart diseases or kidney failure etc. Again if he has high BP or diabetes or sleep apnea kind of health problems then fatal diseases like stroke, asthma, cancer, lungs disease, respiratory troubles, chronic headache etc. can grow in that person’s body even though he or she is not a smoker.
On the contrary, if a smoker person has other healthy lifestyle choices like he works out every day, he maintains a perfect diet, he sleeps and takes his lunch and dinner in a definite time, and also in case of smoking he maintain a moderate term, then he may live longer than others. So lifestyle choices can really be a great factor in this.
It is often seen that women who take birth control pills for different gynecological issues or take sleeping pills are very common to have cardiovascular diseases. Even they are strictly advised to not to smoke. Because smoking can be catastrophic to their health.
So there can be various reasons why your body is attacked by those fatal diseases. Cigarette smoking increases those risks by five times or more. Cutting down the numbers of cigarette can really decrease the rate but it never eliminates the risks. Continuous smoking can harden artery wall, in doctor’s language, it’s called atherosclerosis which doubles the risks of blood clotting in blood vessels and increases blood pressure and triglycerides level in the body. This is the main cause of having a heart attack.
If you are a smoker then you must also be aware of the fact that you are killing people who are surrounding you. This very incident is called “Passive Smoking”, in common language second-hand smoking. Passive smoking is, persons who are near the active smoker, inhaling the tobacco smoke. According to research, passive smoking can also be deadly. It can cause heart diseases, respiratory problems, and even cancer etc. in adult and sudden infant death, allergies, lung diseases, asthma, dental decay, hearing problems in children. It’s said that risk of the orofacial cleft syndrome in infants is caused by maternal passive smoking.
At last, it can be concluded that lack of mental awareness and interest in the fact that how cigarette smoking can kill an entire civilization, are the two main facts why today people are greatly doomed by its aftermath. It is stated that in India, the rate of tobacco inhaler or smoker has declined in a great way but still the number of persons who smokes every day is huge. Many states of India have already banned the use of tobacco or nicotine-contained products. But still, without self-awareness, this is next to impossible to control the hazardous effects of smoking.
